We are individually completing (run, walk, bike) a virtual race of choice (5k, 10k, half, etc.) and asking people to donate on behalf of Covid 19 relief organizations. As youth, the best thing we can do to help stop the spread of coronavirus is to raise money, volunteer for elderly/at risk populations, and stay at home. We are asking everyone to run on their own time, date, and place, maintaining a social distance of 6 feet apart from others. We are asking our community for donations to match each mile we run. We run alone to stop the spread, but work together as a team to fight Covid 19.
While we feel passionate about this cause, we need the help from all of you to make this possible and have a significant impact on those who 1) are putting their lives on the line for us everyday and 2) have been hit the hardest by the physical, emotional, and financial burdens of COVID-19. We want to make our "Run For Relief Team" as big as possible. Run, walk, bike, donate, etc. However you want to participate, we'd love for you to join us. We are trying to create a virtual community and spread some positivity during this time of fear and uncertainty, while working together to fight COVID 19.
We chose three areas of relief that all have tremendous needs right now; each relief area also holds a special place in our hearts for various reasons. The total fundraising number will get split equally three ways:
1. Nurses/Doctors/Hospital Systems - UofChicago Medicine CV19 Relief Fund - "Your gift supports the health care workers providing essential care, as well as the adult and pediatric patients and families who are affected."

2. Community Relief- Chicago Community Covid-19 Response fund- Helping to provide food, resources, and shelter for those who are/will suffer from “Missing paychecks, the inability to pay rent, and a lack of access to food and essential supplies”. This community relief fund supports local non-profits in the most vulnerable neighborhoods of Chicago.

3. Mental Health - the city with the most runners/fundraisers to join the team will choose a local organization of their choice! Let's make this hyped across the entire US and shine light on mental health, something that has taken the back seat during this global pandemic.
20 years from now, I think it would be pretty awesome to say we raised money for the Doctors, Nurses, and healthcare professionals who worked to keep our love ones alive, as well as those who suffered the most from COVID 19, while all we did was get off the couch, out of the house, and went for a 30 minute jog.
Post a picture after your race with the #RaceForCoronaRelief and you will have the opportunity to be randomly selected to win a gift card to a local business. Help spread the word, join us, donate, any/every bit counts right now! Hope everyone is trying their best to stay safe, happy, and healthy.
The funds will be deposited into Scott McAdams account, an organizer and fundraiser of Race for Corona Relief, and then donated to the three organizations specified above.
