The Road Back

Hi, my name is Margaret. My sister Margo and I recently discovered our older brother Jack on his kitchen floor after suffering a stroke. He was there alone for 2 days with no food or water. We kept trying to get someone to let us enter his apartment, but because of privacy laws, it took some coaxing?! Anyway, we made it in time. He's still with us and is going to recover. He had his first stroke a few years ago which rendered him slightly paralyzed and with some impaired speech. However, we've been helping keep him and his mind active by drawing our home designs (which he had learned to do with his opposite hand...left-handed)! He is a retired Vietnam Vet and has been waiting for a veteran-assisted apartment here in Buckeye, AZ for more than 3 years. In the meantime, he's placed in a second-floor apartment in Phoenix, AZ (more than 40 miles away) which renders him completely isolated from his support group (his family in Buckeye). And, of course, no support group leads to depression, etc.
Right now Jack is in the hospital waiting for an assisted physical therapy facility (he still needs the hospital care because he's not 100% out of the woods from the stroke). His work will be to start from the very beginning, ie. walking, bathing, etc. It's going to be a long road back and, of course, foremost on his mind is where and how is he going to live when he's done with physical therapy. He can't be alone like that anymore.
Margo and I want to build a tiny home for Jack in our backyard. We'd love to have him in our home, but there are already 2 families living here. We're just grateful our yard is big enough to accommodate a place for him. That way he can be right here with his family and won't ever worry about a place to live or being alone, again.
Because we live on fixed incomes, it will take way too long (impossible) to come up with construction funds. The VA will provide the home care Jack might require after his PT is concluded. We appreciate any help we can get with this project to help Jack have a place to come home to.
Thank you for everything.
