A year and a half ago KellyAnn began getting numbness and tingling starting in her feet. Soon she began to lose all feeling in her legs and hands, and it progressed as far up as her chest. She soon began to have major respiratory problems as she had no feeling in her mid- to lower body. To give her some relief they placed KellyAnn on a ventilator so she could rest and to let meds get through her system to hopefully start fighting whatever was going on inside her body. The first time around she was hospitalized they ran tons of tests to try and find the cause of the mystery illness, but all tests came back negative. KellyAnn had more spinal taps than anyone could ever imagine over the first time being hospitalized. After being given high dose steroids the feelings slowly moved back down her body, and we began to see what we thought was the light at the end of a very scary and dark tunnel. She soon was released from the hospital with minimal sypmtoms.
A week later, KellyAnn was rehospitalized for the same symptoms. This time around she spent some time at LGH in Lancaster, and later was moved to a hospital in Philadephia to get some fresh eyes to her case. After running tests they had some hope and decided to try out plasmapheresis. And for the second time the symptoms began to subside and we again saw that dim light at the end of another scary tunnel.
KellyAnn made it almost an entire year with little to no symptoms of the scary mystery illness from the year before. But the doctors warned her that because of becoming pregnant her hormones may mask the symtpoms so she was not out of the dark completely yet. After Brianna was born her family and herself were relieved that she did not have any serious complications following Bri's birth.
One year and a day ago KellyAnn was released from the hospital for what we hoped was the last time. And Yesterday KellyAnn was readmitted to neuro-trauma unit for the same scary symptoms making their way up her body.
Today, 7-6-15, KellyAnn under went surgery to get a perm cath which is used for her plasmapheresis, but during her time in recovery the respiratory distress began yet again, and she was placed on a ventilator while she undergoes plasmapheresis.
KellyAnn needs all the thoughts and prayers that you are willing to give her! She is a fighter but needs all the positive thoughts she can get and she will be greatful for ever single one!
As KellyAnn just came off of maternity leave after having her beautiful daughter, Brianna, she is out of paid time off and because of all the time she was off last year due to these health issues she could use all the support anyone is willing to give! I am trying to raise as much money as I can to help support my sister and her beautiful family! Howie, her husband, wants nothing more than to be at her side in these trying times but can't afford to not work with no other incomes. I am asking you to please donate anything you can, even if it is a dollar! Every little bit will help this amazing little family get by through this tough time.
I appreciate it, and I know my sister and her family does as well!!
I love you all and thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and suport! I will never be able thank you enough for your support!
