Getting Well at Wellspring Farm

Hi everyone, as you know Equine Herpes Virus has hit the barn hard. Wellspring Farms has 61 horses, 10 of which are symptomatic and/or tested EHV-1 positive that are being closely monitored and cared for by staff and veterinarians. Only essential workers are allowed on the property and much of their help cannot return until the end of quarantine. This has put incredible stress on the small team in charge. They are working around the clock.
The farm also runs a very large lesson program that has been halted for, at minimum, 41 days. Anyone in the horse business knows, without lessons and training, there is very little income, if any, to cover expenses, employee paychecks, and growing vet bills. In addition, a bulk of the horses are lesson horses, so the feed, shoeing and vet bills that are typically covered by the lesson program, will now have to be covered by the farm owner. This is all putting an enormous financial strain on the business.
Lastly, Tiffany Wallace has been with this barn since she was a child, and, as recently as January, became the new owner. This is a tragic circumstance to any owner, but to have it happen to your brand new business is just heartbreaking.
