My name is Hails, and I am a registered member of a NZ performing and entertainment Kapa Haka rōpū (group) based in Ipswich, and we are currently fundraising for an upcoming cultural and educational journey across the Pacific. Ngaa Maania Onewhero has been given the opportunity to retrace the footsteps of our tipuna (ancestors) and deepen our understanding of who we are as Māori and as Polynesian people. This journey is not only a performance opportunity, but an important educational experience grounded in whakapapa (family history), identity, and cultural learning. Our journey begins on 1 July, flying with Air New Zealand from Brisbane to Auckland. We will stay at a marae for two nights, where we will learn about our pepeha, our identity, and where we come from. On 4 July, we depart Auckland and arrive in Tahiti, before travelling to Rangiatea. There, we will be hosted by the local people until the morning of 11 July, participating in cultural workshops organised by our tutor and learning about the Polynesian voyaging fleet and our shared ancestral connections. Following this, we will fly from Tahiti to Rarotonga to perform, before returning home. In total, our stay includes 2 nights in Auckland NZ, 7 nights in Tahiti and 2 nights in the Cook Islands.

Due to limited airline seat availability for our group, travel costs are significant. I am seeking all support to help cover my flights, and travel expenses so I can take part in this beautiful journey.
