Getting this mom to the London Marathon Journey

6 months. 900 miles. And one hurdle I didn't see coming.

My name is Edith and I am a single mother and a full-time caregiver to my daughter, who is disabled. For the last two years, running has been my lifeline and the only space where I am not just so and so’s mom or a caregiver. Running allows me to be just me no matter how fast or slow I am.

‍♀️I was chosen to run the 2026 London Marathon for a charity that provides vital protection and services for more than 30,000 disabled people in England, and that cause is very personal to me.

I have spent months balancing training runs while my child slept or was in a stroller that wasn’t built for her because insurance won’t cover it, with a relentless schedule of appointments and care that my daughter requires and other duties.

I’ve already raised 40% of my charity goal because I believe in paying it forward.

But today, the marathon dream feels like a dream and not reality anymore.

Sudden, unavoidable shifts in my daughter’s medical and caregiving costs this week have completely wiped out my travel fund. I’m less than 72 hours away from my flight deadline, and as it stands, I won't be on that plane.

I’m not a professional athlete with a fleet of sponsors. I’m just a mom who has used every spare second to prove that caregivers belong at the world’s most prestigious finish lines. My supporters on social media tagged the big brands, and while the corporate offices are silent, I know the power of the community isn’t.

I need to raise $4,000 by Monday at 10:00 AM. This covers a last-minute international flight and race-week logistics I need to represent this community with dignity.

I’m not just running for a medal. I’m running to show my daughter and every other caregiver and mom who feels invisible that our dreams don’t have to stay small just because our responsibilities are big.

If 4,000 people donated just $1, I’d be at that start line.

Whether you can give $5 or simply share this link, you are helping me turn a bad break into a finish line.

Thank you for seeing me. Let’s get to London.
