I am reaching out to the world in hopes of being able to make real changes for shelter dogs or any dog in need. I have been volunteering with my BF every week @ the local animal shelter where we live. We have been doing this for over 1 yr. I also worked over 1yr -5yrs ago for a different animal shelter. I have also worked in two different boarding/daycare facilities. I am not here to bash what any one is doing to help animals. I am here to say that thru all my years working with dogs & being around the shelter system I see a change I want to make. I want dogs to not only have a place to "stay" while they wait for hopefully furever homes. But a place where they can learn to become better dogs. Better for their own well being, better for the potential adopters & better for society. I am hoping to raise enough money to purchase/make payments on the land right next to our home in Bridgton, Me. I would like to build a barn style boarding facility. One that would offer proper security & comfort. I am in school for dog training & actively pursuing a career as a dog trainer as well as working full time @ a vet office. I struggled with asking for help, but I have shared my idea with many people & they think I should go for it & so do I. I am not sure the money I will need, anything will help! My brothers & bf are all willing & able to help me build this facility. I just need the funds. My ultimate goal is to have a facility to offer training out of & to be able to house 1-2 (or however many to an appropriate degree) of dogs from shelters, more specifically ones that have been in the shelter for over 1yr. As far as my dog training career the education will never end! I am hoping to be able to become & get the dogs actively involved in GRC dogsports & other healthy outlets to promote healthy relationships & steer new owners in the right direction. There is now more than ever a need for good healthy mindset training. Dog training with the well being of the dog being the biggest goal! I also want people to know that if the funding starts but I don't make enough to get things rolling then I will directly donate the funds to help the dogs in need! We as a whole need to become better dog owners/advocates. I want to be able to stop dogs from ending up in the shelter & keep the ones that get adopted in their homes. That all requires good solid training, for the dog & the human!
