We the Nuclear Free North is an alliance of residents and organizations across northern Ontario raising awareness and opposition to a plan to transport, process, bury and abandon all of Canada's high-level nuclear fuel waste in a single location.
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is investigating the Revell site between Ignace and Dryden in the heart of Treaty 3 territory in northwestern Ontario.
This spring and summer We the Nuclear Free North is raising funds to erect two additional billboards. A billboard just north of the Nipigon bridge will focus on transportation risk and a billboard just south of Kenora will draw attention to the risks to downstream waters, including Wabigoon Lake and river system and the Turtle-Rainy River system and Lake of the Woods and beyond (the Winnipeg River and Lake Winnipeg).
Step one is to raise funds for the sign production and erection; step two is to raise funds for a series of local ads that will tailor the message to local communities along the transportation route and downstream.
Full budget: $10,000! Our fundraising goal: $5,000!
