Getting the fluid around my dogs lungs tested
Donation protected
My name is Ashlee, and I’m looking for help with getting the fluid around my dogs lungs tested. His name is Scrappy, he’s a rescue from Dominican Republic, and 5 years old. Over the last couple days my husband and I noticed he was starting to turn down food but wanted to eat. We thought it was maybe the heat getting to him as it was 40+ degrees with the humidity for 3 days straight. Then the bathroom strain, and grunts started, grunting anytime he try’s to lay down a certain way or move too fast. We took him to the vet today, and unfortunately my boy has so much fluid around his lung the vet could barely read the X-ray. That's when everything turned into a medical emergency, the fluid has to be drained sooner rather than later.
The fluid also has to be sent out and tested for heart disease, cancer, heart worms, etc but I’m in the position where I can’t afford the $800 they need to get it done. As I have been unemployed for the last 6 months and only getting less than $700 from the government monthly.
The vet said that this should be done immediately, to hopefully come up with a treatment plan before this becomes more of a dire situation.
