Sweet Parry Tullis went in for his third open-heart surgery for HLHS
(https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/heartdefects/hlhs.html ) on Thursday, July 5th--a healthy, beautiful, happy little boy. During the surgery he experienced a serious lack of oxygen to his brain, along with multiple seizures afterward. As a result, Parry is now experiencing major serious and unexpected complications. Instead of the 5-7 days in the hospital that Parry's family was originally expecting, it is projected that he will remain for 6-8 weeks, receiving the care, treatment and therapy needed. His family was told that Parry may need to relearn to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and interpret the things he sees. They have yet to hear his sweet voice or to see recognition in his eyes.
After leaving the hospital Parry will continue in his recovery and physical, occupational and speech therapy for weeks and months to come. In addition to the emotional strain, this will place a huge financial burden on the family, potentially for years to come.
Though devastated, Parry's parents are choosing to be hopeful and optimistic in believing that they will get their precious boy back--just as wonderful and delightful as he was before. Some details of their recent experiences can be found at http://parrys-heart.blogspot.com/.
Thank you for the love, concern and prayers given on Parry's behalf. His family is overwhelmed at this outpouring of love and faith. We believe that Parry and his family can do this! In the words of his mother, "We are getting our same Parry back!"
