I lost my gorgeous gorgeous baby boy Toffee last Sunday morning 28th September 2025 , he was only 12 years old,
Toffee was diagnosed with a bladder tumor at the end of July and was given 4-6 months,
Toffee has been with me through the hardest , darkest and toughest times of my life,
I lost my mom when I was 10 years old and throughout my 20s and 30s I gave up everything to become a full time carer for my father who had MS ( multiple sclerosis ) , trigeminal Nurelga also known as the suicide disease and lots of other medical conditions which left him housebound / bedridden and needing round the clock care ,
It took a lot of people to convince my dad to let me have a dog and he eventually gave in , This was to get me out of the house for an hour a day ,
As soon as he saw the picture of Toffee my dad named him saying he looks like the colour of a Toffee , and hard on the outside, soft on the inside, my dad was very proud that he named him ,
Toffee brought both me and my dad smiles and laughter through really hard days but was there curled up when needed ,
Toffee also became a sort of therapy dog , accompanying my dad to day centres, rest bite care and care homes, all the residents and staff fell in love with him ,
My dad passed away in October 2019 and all I wanted was Toffee by my side, he got me through the funeral and grieving stage and then Covid hit and being by yourself not seeing anyone was tough but I had my baby boy by my side getting me through each and every day,
I have an awful health condition at the moment and im unable to work , ( I’m waiting to see a surgical team ) Toffee used to sit up with me nightly when I’m having my awful attacks, even just watching him watching me was a great comfort,
obviously not having an income at the moment I’m struggling financially and the pdsa have helped a lot ( although it’s not free and you still have to pay ) it’s financially cheaper than normal vets ,
I have managed to sell things and borrow money and was hoping and praying Toffee would have lasted until at least Christmas so I could have saved up a little but unfortunately life is cruel and he got his angel wings far too soon,
For me to have Toffee cremated would be €300 and vet bills have come to £160 ,
obivously I want him back home with me as quick as possible but I just cannot afford it ,
I have managed to get £150 together but still need the rest , I have never asked or done anything like this before and I really do hate asking for help but desperate times called for desperate measures, thank you very much for reading x
