Getting MC & Vanessa to Kansas - Cancer Sucks

Meet Vanessa and MC, this GoFundMe is about THEM. These are my beloved heart horses, who due to my diagnosis of cancer in February of 2022, will be going to Rainbow Meadows Rescue in Junction City, Kansas on October 9th to begin their new journey and we need everyone’s help badly.

In February of 2022, I was diagnosed with CLL/SLL (Leukemia) after suffering swollen lymph nodes from my Covid vaccine in April 2021. My animals are the most important thing in my life. Over the past 7 months, I have gone back and forth and ultimately have decided that the best course of action for Vanessa and MC is to allow a top rescue to rehome them to a forever home(s). Having worked in rescue for years, I do NOT want these beloved animals to EVER fall through the cracks, thus my decision to do this now. While I am healthy enough to do it.

Rainbow Meadows ( www.rainbowmeadowsrescue.com) has generously offered to be that rescue. Not only will they be in the beautiful Midwest area (Kansas) but this rescue is one of the best in the country.

I don’t do well asking for help for myself….it’s incredibly uncomfortable for me to do so. My monthly bills for medical (both conventional and alternative) is mind-boggling and at the present time, I am NOT working. While I’m looking for some steady work, due to cancer and having ‘good days’ and ‘bad days, I need work that is only remote, or very flexible.

So, here I am asking for everyone’s help. I’ve broken down the estimated costs of the trip itself and the vetting (already done) that will be incurred. This doesn’t include meals, emergencies, truck repairs if needed, etc…it is the bare bones.

Being a private person, I am not going to write too much about all that I’m going through financially, physically or emotionally, but should anyone have a question, please contact me.

Through the years, many of you know the time, money and effort I’ve put into the rescue community I now need to ask for some help.

How will the money be spent you ask?

Vetting prior to trip - $ 330.00 (DONE)

Trip = 2300 miles @ 10mpg x $4.80/gal (diesel) $ 1,110.00

Layover (both ways - one w/horses) $ 230.00

NOTE: Any additional money will be used for my out-of-pocket treatment as it costs me $600-1000/month.

My goal is to have the funds to do this trip and not take money from my care/treatment that I am being so very careful with.
