Getting Griff back on his feet

Donation protected
Hi everyone, we really need your help.

Recently, my friend Griff, has fallen on hard times and we've found out that for the past 3 to 4 months he’s been living in his car.
He'd not told anyone about this, not asked for help or sympathy at all.
I guess pride overrode his wanting to reach out.

We have since found out that he had gotten himself a steady job. He was saving up to get himself out of this rut and was heading in the right direction.

Then, further disaster struck and around four/five weeks ago, he got what he thought was a fever. A friend of his let him stay with them while he was poorly, but over the next few weeks he deteriorated. I have regular conversations with him and during this time those conversations changed, he wasn't himself and it almost felt as though he was losing touch with reality. Our conversations became incredibly random and it was obvious that something really wasn’t right.

It turns out that what he thought was a slight fever / cold / flu was much more serious and he was blue lighted to hospital and initially diagnosed with blood clots and pneumonia.

I went to see him in hospital on Sunday (22nd) and it turns out he’s been placed into a medically induced coma and has been for 5 days so far. He is unable to breath without a ventilator and the medical team informed me that there is also a problem with his liver and kidney so he is hooked up to another machine (please excuse my lacking medical knowledge) to help relieve the pressure placed on that.

The nurse told me that he also has tuberculosis.
I'm no medical expert but I imagine that sleeping in his car for months will have helped in causing the blood clots. I also imagine that the cold and damp conditions weakened his immune system (may have even given him some kind of primary infection (again, I'm no medical expert, I'm just trying to use logic and common sense).

It really is touch and go for him at the minute. When I asked, the medical team were reluctant to give me information on the chances he has of a recovery. Looking at him in the hospital bed, tubes going in and out of him, listening to the repetitive beeping of the machines keeping him alive and looking at how emasculated he looks broke me.
He is skin and bones and quite literally a shell of what he normally is.

Here’s why I am asking for your help.
I’m hoping Griff pulls through this and the NHS (who have been amazing so far) will be able to bring him back to good health.
If this is the case however, when he is discharged he will be right back to the situation that (I believe) got him to this state in the first place - he will be back sleeping in that cold and damp car meaning it is just a matter of time before something like this, or worse, happens again.
I would love to be able to raise some money so that we can make sure he has a safe, clean, dry and warm place to move in to when he is (hopefully) released from hospital. Ideally, we could raise enough to cover any rental deposit needed and the first 3 months of his bills. As mentioned, he had started a new job, was doing well and was saving for this very purpose. It would be amazing if we could get him out of hospital and into the very place that he needs. If we can cover the first few months he will then be in a position where he's self sufficient and able to live a better life.

I know times are hard and if I could cover this myself I would. - the fact he chose to live in his car over reaching out to family and friends says it all. As I say, times are incredibly hard for us all right now, but if you can give anything at all we would be incredibly grateful. If you are unable to directly donate then please at least like this post, comment on it a message of support and share it.
The more engagement the post gets the more it is pushed and seen.

Thank you for your time, I hope that we can raise this together and get Griff back on his feet.N
