Getting Googley: Google Innovator Academy (Sydney)

I still have to pinch myself! I have been accepted into the highly competitive Google for Education Certified Innovator Program! This program includes professional development with Google for one year during which I will launch an innovative project to tackle a challenge in education. My submission was about re-framing parent engagement and you can see my challenge video here. I will begin my professional development journey when I attend the Innovation Academy in Sydney, Australia from May 1-4. I do have to pay my own way to Sydney in order to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (airfare $1,300 and hotel $900). I currently teach at a Title I school where the majority of our students are English language learners. I will be able to bring back new ideas and relevant skills to my school and district to help me lead innovation locally and increase student achievement at my school and beyond. This professional development will help me be a better educator for my students, the students of our school, and the students of our district. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I hold two Bachelor's Degrees from the University of Texas (Austin) and a Master of Education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. As you can see, I am committed to being a lifelong learner and improving my craft as a teacher through learning, growth, and reflection. Thank you for helping me take advantage of this ultimate dream professional opportunity! #SYD19 #GoogleEI
