Getting auto maintenance for medical trips
Donation protected
Hi, my name is John and I live in North Carolina. Many of you have known me from Twitter and other social media platforms as Catmandude.
Since 2009 many of you have journeyed with me as I shared my life as a cat rescuer, Boston sports fan and a cancer patient.
In 2019 I was diagnosed with liver cancer (HCC) and was told I would probably die without a transplant. After undergoing several rounds of radiation, my tumors were nonviable and I hoped it was cured. It stayed that way until June 2023. My cancer has returned and I have received a new round of radiation therapy. Also I have undergone all necessary tests at Duke University in order to get listed again. My wife and I make constant trips to Duke, which means 3 hours of driving each way. Our vehicle is a 2015 Subaru with high mileage. We are unable to afford some necessary maintenance to ensure it keeps running, especially with winter ahead. It's embarrassing to be in this vulnerable position, but I have a very strong will to live. Getting some good tires and fixing an oil leak means we can travel safely back and forth from Duke. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you're unable or uninterested to help please keep me in your prayers and positive energy.
Sincerely, John Szimanouskas
