Helmet Therapy for Positional Plagiocephaly

Donation protected
This is Scarlett, she is currently 3 3/4 months old. She suffers from Torticollis and as a side effect of this has developed Positional Plagiocephaly (a flat side to her skull) Scarlett has suffered Torticollis from birth due to how she was delivered, this means she has tightness of the neck muscles causing her head to tilt backwards to the right and her to face left most of the time. Due to having neck stiffness, she has not had full range of motion in her neck causing difficulties turning herself to look right. Unfortunately as a result of this, Scarlett has developed flattening of the left side of her skull behind her ear, causing the right side of her skull to bulge out, the left side of her face is also alot flatter than the right and her ears are no longer level. Although we have mentioned to several health experts since her birth, it is only now being taken seriously and we are awaiting a referral for Physio Therapy for her neck issues. Though "repositioning" is meant to help aid in evening out a flat side of the skull, it is near impossible for Scarlett until she has full range of her neck movement. We are looking into Helmet Therapy for our little girl before it is too late and her skull has hardened and can no longer be reshaped. We have already had one doctor via the NHS tell us to not bother helmeting as it "is more of an American thing" and that "her hair will cover the flat spot as she grows" which I don't think is acceptable for them to say. Yes her hair may grow but it won't grow in even and her head will still be of a wonky shape. If left untreated, she can run into issues down the line as she ages such as jaw misalignment and not being able to wear glasses if needed due to her ears being uneven. Helmet Therapy is not funded through NHS so the only option we have is to go private which costs £2050. This covers all appointments, the helmet and any changes to the helmet throughout the time spent in the helmet. I am currently on Maternity Pay and not due back in work until April so for the most part we only have one income coming in from my partner to cover all outgoings, rent, food, etc. As you can imagine £2050 is alot of money to find when you don't have much money spare each month, especially when you have a little one to provide for. Any help towards our goal of £2050 to help fund this helmet is very much appreciated, whether it is 50p, £1 or more. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
