Greetings, 
My name is Ozara Odé. I am a singer/songwriter/actress and playwright who was inspired to write a tribute to one of the greatest classically trained pianists of our time. The clip shows a live performance of Brown Baby.  It was one of the songs I performed during the live recording of my tribute to Nina Simone project.  Please take the time to view and share both the clip and this gofundme campaign.

Upon learning more about the music of Nina Simone, I was compelled to research and learn as much about her as possible.  This lead to me writing a play sharing my journey to discovering this amazing women and paying tribute to the music of a legend. 

After 7 long years, full of ups and downs, life circumstances, writing and rewriting, I am super geeked that the tribute is heading to New York for an  Off-Broadway production!!  This is truly a dream come true and with you backing the campaign, I have no doubt that the tribute will come into fruition.   Let's make history together!

I am new to the world of theatre all things considered. The learning curve has been real- to say the least. Along the journey to my Off-Broadway production I discovered what's called licensing.

The ultimate goal is to take the play on a 15 city US tour and then overseas. The $5,000 is the initial investment to jump start the tour. The $35,000 goal is to help support the 15 city tour. Let's make Phase 1 a successful campaign together!

HOW THE FUNDS ARE USED:

Your support of this campaign will fund Phase 1 of the #GetOzaratoBroadway campaign and operations, including:

•Venue Fees

•Marketing and Promo

•Licensing of music in the production

•Light/Sound Tech, Stage manager and 2 crew members

•Costume

·      3 cast members

·      3 band members

·      Props and delivery

·      PR agent

·      Assistant

·      Graphic designer

·      Flyers, Tickets, Posters

·      Travel and lodging for cast

·      Rehearsal space

 WHY WE NEED FUNDS NOW:

Our goal is to raise all the funds we need for our first production by May 15th, so we aren't saddled with a perpetual fundraiser. Immediate needs include:

•    Travel and lodging for Promo in New York - 4/20

•    Graphic Designer (Flyers, posters and tickets)

•    PR fees

•    Venue Fees

•    Online Ads

The sooner we can reach our goal, the sooner I can focus on my lines! LBVS

 

STRETCH GOAL #1:

If our initial fundraising goal is reached, we'll set a stretch goal of $15,000. Additional funds will support the first 2 cities:

•     Marketing

•     Venue costs

·      Tour Costs (transportation, lodging,

·      Cast

·      Licensing

 STRETCH GOAL #2:

If Stretch Goal #1 is reached, we'll set an additional stretch goal of $15,000 to help Elevated Places continue operations beyond the first 5 runs, expand the band by 1 to include a Djembe player.
