Help Marc Get Some New Fingers

Donation protected
Our friend Marc Smith is our favorite guitar player. He is also one hell of a carpenter, and that's how he makes his living. On Monday afternoon his table saw kicked back and pulled his right hand into the blade, severly cutting and fracturing his thumb and index finger. To be blunt, he did all but cut those two fingers off.

We can all be happy that the prognosis is thought to be hopeful. Today he had a consult with a top Duke hand surgeon who assured him that the digits can be saved with extensive surgery, a lenghty immobilization and physical therapy.

Obviously, this will have a devasting finacial effect on Vanessa and Marc. They do have health insurance, but because he's self-employed, there is no worker's comp or paid time off. Marc will be out of work for an extended period. Naturally, Vanessa will continue to work as doggedly as we all know she always does.

The surgery is estimated to cost in the neighborhood of $10,000 (or more) with a recuperation time of up to (and possibly longer than) 3 months. That's a long time for a self-employed musician to be out of work.

We love Marc and Vanessa and y'all and know that we can help them through this tough time. Obviously, no contribution is too small and they will be so appreciative of any help you can provide.
