We are fund raising for a physical therapy tilt table for our daughters orphanage in China.
Tilt Tables are used in physical therapy to help children who can not stand or walk on their own, gradually learn how to do so. Some of the children who need gait training, have spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy or other disabilities that prevent them from standing or walking on their own.
A tilt table can allow these children the opportunity to eat, play and interact with others as they are out of their beds. In addition, they can be helpful in removing pressure from bed sores.
These tables cost between $3,000 to $5,000 dollars, so as you can imagine, they are extremely expensive for orphanages as they have very limited resources. If we happen to raise anything above the cost of a tilt table, any additional will be used to buy other rehabilitation equipment or something similar that the orphanage needs.
We are requesting from our friends and family that in lieu of any shower gifts, you would consider donating to the orphanage that has cared for our baby for the past several years.
Any donations made will go 100% to support children who most likely will never have a family to call their own, and are completely separate from the fees and costs we are paying for our daughters adoption.
Her orphanage needs a tilt table to not only help the children learn the life skills of walking, standing and doing basic self care functions. But, these life skills become survival skills for these kids. Children who aren’t adopted by 14 become ineligible to ever do so, and at 18 they are released from the orphanage and are on their own. Without an adequate safety net to protect them, many end up homeless, victims of human trafficking or go into adult social welfare institutions where food and medical resources are scarce.
While the needs of orphans are beyond measure, and we can’t provide for all of them, we certainly can do our part by giving back and asking the Lord to bless those gifts. We are reminded of John 6:1-14, when Christ took the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, and multiplied it to feed 5,000 people with 12 baskets left over! Our prayer is He does the same here.
