Support John's Recovery

Donation protected
Thank you for your interest in supporting John! On Wednesday morning (11/18) John was in a bike accident in Ballard. He was rushed to Harborview ER where he received care for cervical spine pain, several facial lacerations, a brain concussion, and nasal fracture. His injuries required cervical spine surgery (specifically, an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion, wherein his C4 and C5 discs were replaced). He was hospitalized for 6 days and returned to the ER, briefly, due to complications with his medication. John is home and in recovery mode. His nerves around the C4 and C5 area are temporarily damaged. This effects his ability to use his arms, particularly his left arm, in full range. He is in a neck brace for the next 3 months and just began extensive physical therapy.

John is a compassionate and supportive individual. Caring deeply for his students, family and friends, he steps up to help out wherever he can with a cheerful willingness. A passionate cyclist and special education teacher, he maintains a sense of humor and kindness through it all. John commutes daily to Everett from Seattle via bus and bike and rides support for Cascade Bicycle Club. He finished the STP this year!

Funds will be used to cover his medical bills for the ER, hospital stay, surgery, outpatient care, medical needs and, if funds remain, a new bike. Thank you. We deeply appreciate your contributions, love and support!
