We've set this up to raise money for our cousin Jack Melloy.
Jack is 22 and has a grade 11 Chondrosarcoma. The tumour is attached to his brain stem and right side optical nerve, causing limited movement to his right eye and giving him double vision.
He has already undergone 8 gruelling hours of debulking surgery to reduce the size of the tumour, and now the surgery has to be repeated to try to make the tumour smaller so that he can have Proton Beam Therapy in the US to remove the tumour completely.
At present the tumour is so large that starting Proton Beam Therapy could cause added problems, such as mini stroke, coordination and balance problems and possible facial palsy. Making the tumour smaller decreases the chances of the added complications that Proton Beam Therapy could cause.
Jack has to go to Florida for the Proton Beam Therapy and he will be there for over 7 weeks, so we're fundraising to help him and his loved ones get out there.
Our fundraising starts on Sunday19th July 2015, when we'll be taking part in the Great Newham London Run, running 10K around London and finishing up in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Obviously this is a cause extremely close to our families hearts, and if you could spare anything at all to sponsor us and donate to this cause, we would all be eternally grateful.
