El 24 de diciembre, mi cuñada, Rhaisa Odalys Algarín Ruiz, fue víctima de un trágico acto de feminicidio (violencia de género). Fue estrangulada durante un largo período, lo que la llevó a ser hospitalizada y conectada a un respirador artificial. A pesar de los esfuerzos del equipo médico, las lesiones de Rhaisa fueron demasiado graves y fue retirada del ventilador tras ser declarada con muerte cerebral debido a un daño extenso en sus órganos. On December 24th, my sister-in-law, Rhaisa Odalys Algarín Ruiz, became the victim of a tragic act of domestic violence. She was strangled for a prolonged period, which led to her being hospitalized and placed on life support. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Rhaisa’s injuries were too severe, and she was removed from the ventilator after being declared brain dead due to extensive organ damage. Her sudden and heartbreaking loss has left our entire family and friends in shock and deep sorrow.

We are now facing the overwhelming challenge of arranging funeral services for Rhaisa and supporting her loved ones as they navigate this unimaginable grief. The funds raised will go directly toward covering funeral expenses and providing much-needed financial support for her mother and her young son, who are left to cope with this loss.
