Hello, my name is Karl, some of you might know me as Wardath in games or Youngledore as co-owner of The Steady Servers, or maybe you just know me as nothing at all.
I've reluctantly turned to GoFundMe (and in turn, you generous people of the internet) for some help, as the computer I am currently using does have quite a few issues with running the most basic of programs. I'd love to be able to for once in my life own my own computer(that is not an old hand-me-down dust collector, or an eleven year old laptop).
Not to go into too much of a sob story here, but as some folk may already be aware of, I'm not able to work because of health reasons. Thanks to the fantastic help of medication and regular conversations with friends online, I do manage to keep my head up in the darkest of times. Most of my money these days tends to go towards myself and my flatmate staying fed and relatively healthy".
Last year I took in a friend of mine that I met online who was in need (he was without a job, and had no safe place to stay). After some time at my place, and help from me he managed to secure himself a part time job in the service industry. All of which made, my life a tad easier and the expenses more manageable. A certain virus made it so that his place of work had to cancel all of their business, resulting in him not being able to earn what he was able to before.
I have for some years now been thinking of replacing the computer, I had been lucky enough to borrow from a friend, but the financial situation I am in has made that rather difficult. The thought of being able to afford to replace my now rather old setup seem like a crazy dream to be honest.
Not only does it seem impossible, but it would also strangely enough, be very important for me. I'd be able to still maintain my roll on the online community, do my duties as volunteer head technician to keep the servers running. Being able to talk to and play games with my lovely friends all over the globe, a thing that has shown itself to be a vital part of my every day-to-day life when it comes to keeping me sane.
Let's see how this goes.
ps. the goal of 20 000 nok is just a number I put in, if I ever am able to get a computer, and there is any money left over it will be donated to non-profit organizations who help people meet and make friends.
Thank you so much - Karl
