Send a Woman of Color to Yale

Hola!

So, I've been accepted into the THREAD program at Yale! An intense 4-day program focused on Storytelling in Modern Media. The only issue is I cannot afford to pay the tuition right now.

I have recently poured a lot of my personal funds and time into my very own company Reclama, hiking and writing retreats for women of color, BUT I have faith that somehow some way I can pay this tuition with the help of my friends, family, and hopefully some generous strangers.

This is your chance to send a woman of color to get further educated in what Yale refers to as an “extraordinary personal and professional development experience.” Yes, I need this if I am going to keep pushing through and keep telling the underreported stories out of the Latinx community. It’s my passion and purpose. Any little bit counts as the deadline is May 20th!

All of the money donated will go toward the tuition balance.

A little bit about me:

I’m a proud Peruvian American who has worked in journalism for over 10 years for companies like NBC, CNN, Latina magazine, and Vivala.com, which I co-launched. One of my greatest successes was assisting in the launch HuffPost’s LatinoVoices. In 2015, me and my childhood friend co-founded the award-nominated feminist podcast Morado Lens we discussed sex, culture, and embracing intuition as a form of empowerment, all from a Latina’s perspective. I love creating impactful and diverse content for English-dominant Latinos. I want to produce the kinds of stories I wish I had seen growing up.

Here I am reporting on the Indigenous People’s March this past January:
