Get Willow Back On Her 4 Feet

Today our worst nightmare happened. Our angel Willow got out of the yard and was hit by a car. Liv was home and I was at work. Our wonderful friend Nick happened to be driving by and immediately came to help, along with some kind bystanders.

 

We are so grateful that Willow is alive. However, she severely fractured her back right leg and fractured her pelvis.

 

We are also so grateful that we are in a position where we got to choose what course of treatment we feel is best for her. We were given the choice of amputating her leg or having surgery done on both her leg and pelvis where she would be expected to make a full recovery.

 

After much heartbreak, tears, and deliberation, we decided on the latter. We want ALL of our girl to come home and we don’t ever want to have to choose the cheaper way out (8 grand cheaper, ouch).

 

We were only able to make this choice out of the beautiful generosity of family and friends (shout out cousin Kaykee!). We are so grateful. We are so lucky. We have enough to pay the deposit so they will do the surgery tomorrow.

 

*Sob story alert!* We will have virtually no savings after this. Liv is working VERY part time as she is still recovering from surgery. I will be out of work for a few weeks for my own surgery at the end of the month. We will be struggling, but I know we made the right decision for our baby: the decision for her to be able to live a full and happy life with the perfect body she was born with.

 

Nobody likes needing help, but we are smart enough to know when to ask for it. The cost I posted is the cost of just her surgery. I know there will be many more costs associated with this, and we are stretched thin after this tragedy.

 

We know it is the holidays and everyone is tight on money; we know we are in a better position than a lot of people; we also know that people have big hearts and love our baby Willow.
