Can you help Get us to Goal!

‘Get us to Goal’ is CULNC’s new fundraising campaign that aims to make our teams more successful on court and support all our members off court. Netball is already the most popular women-only sport at Cambridge, and we want to make University netball as accessible and rewarding as possible. We are proud to have 60 members, representing 32 colleges. We have expanded to five teams, with four competing in BUCs, and we are rolling out a plan to improve our performance year on year.

So, why are we asking for your help? Well, being part of a sports club at Cambridge means membership fees, playing and training kit, club events, equipment, coaching, transport to away matches and more. The fact is that not everyone can afford it. However, with your support we can give more people the chance to play at a high level, improve their game, and enjoy the experience of being part of a successful club.

For example:

• £20 buys a match ball

• £30 funds an hour of coaching

• £35 helps towards a dress

• £200 covers membership fees for a player who might not be able to afford them

Why it matters

We listen to our members, and their message is loud and clear: being part of CULNC makes a big difference to their experience of Cambridge. They value the different ways it brings them together with women from across the University, such as wearing club kit, taking part in pre-season training, going to social events, and attending the Varsity dinner.

The problem is that many of these elements of Club life can be expensive, from buying training gear to paying for accommodation during pre-season. And while some colleges offer grants to their University sportspeople, many don’t. We hope that’s where you will come in.

And of course, by enabling the best netballers in the University to play a full part in CULNC whatever their circumstances, providing excellent coaching, facilities and equipment, and raising morale across the board, every contribution helps us achieve our goals of being victorious across the BUCs leagues – and against Oxford!
