We are a Destination Imagination team from West Middle School in Rochester Hills, MI., that wants to compete at the national finals!
What is Destination Imagination? DI is an extraordinary student program that encourages students to develop their creativity, innovation, and critical thinking while solving fun challenges with a team of their peers.
Our team of six 7th graders took on the Scientific Challenge, designing an amusement park attraction in an unlikely location. We created an escape room underneath the school. (Who doesn't want one of those?) We have been meeting constantly after school and countless hours on evenings and weekends creating, writing, rehearsing and refining our challenge solution. Our hard work has been recognized with a First Place finish at the Regional Tournament and Third Place at the State Tournament, where the best of over a thousand teams in Michigan compete!
We are now headed to Destination Imagination Global Finals, held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville on May 23-26. We need your help to get there! Your generous support will help our team cover the tournament registration, participation fees, and travel expenses so we can take full advantage of this amazing opportunity. We will be competing in our challenges, but we will also have the opportunity to attend workshops and labs, participate in interactive STEAM-based exhibits and engage with industry professionals from some of the most innovative companies from around the world, further increasing our skills and broadening our horizons.
Destination Imagination says, "We create the next generation of innovative thinkers and leaders." We are that generation! Please help us on our journey.
