GET US HOME TO CALGARY

UPDATE This is Luwam. My name is Belle and I am Luwam's mentor through Soroptimist International. I have been "grandma" to Luwam's 3 kids for the last 6 years. Luwam and the kids (aged 3, 4 and 8) need our help.

In February the family - Luwam, her three children and Luwam's partner - traveled to Uganda to meet Luwam's parents there who had travelled from Eritrea to meet the family. Luwam hadn’t seen her parents in 12 years.

While in Uganda, Luwam's partner mistreated all of them and then abandoned Luwam and all three children after trying unsuccessfully to kidnap the two youngest kids (3 and 4 years). With the help of Soroptimist women in Africa, I've managed to get Luwam and my grandkids away from this man, andinto a hotel for a few days while we sorted out Luwam’s travel documents. With the help of an amazing travel agent named Shelly we were able to get them on a flight back to Calgary. They are currently safe in Calgary at an emergency shelter.

I am asking for help to pay for all these expenses - approximately $8,000.

All the kids are Canadian citizens and Luwam is a permanent resident who came to Canada as a refugee
