Get Trevor and Amanda Moved Home for the Holidays

Finally! Over two and a half years since Trevor and Amanda decided to move from California to be closer to family, they are ready to move! All of us parents are thrilled: David (Trevor’s dad), Julia (me, Trevor’s mom) and Justine (Amanda’s mom). They will be moving to Manchester, New Hampshire where they will initially stay with Justine and, soon, establish their own home. California is an expensive place to live and this cross-country move also requires a great deal of money. Please consider any help you give as a holiday gift to all of us.

Many of you will recall that twenty-eight months ago, Trevor, Amanda, and Sugaree (their beloved dog) were in a horrific auto accident on a freeway. Their truck was totaled and Amanda ended up in the hospital. Since much of what they owned was in that truck, they were not only traumatized and hurt by the accident, they were left homeless, vehicle less, and with few possessions. Many friends helped in many ways in that emergency and all the difficult times that followed. We’re looking for even more help now, as we expect we are approaching the final days of these hard times.

Trevor and Amanda had some luck in the past few years, a lot more bad than good. There were thefts, vehicles breaking down when they shouldn’t, and difficulties trying to find a place to park the small camper in which they live (who knew so many trailer parks won’t allow trailers over 25 years old into them). In early 2020, after battling lymphoma for months, Sugaree died. She was only six years old. The COVID pandemic slowed things sufficiently so that the few governmental details they needed to resolve before leaving California took years, rather than months.

This move will cost between $4,000 and $6,000. Even though Trevor and Amanda both work as they have the opportunity, even though all us parents help when we can, we all just barely keep up with the expenses of life in California.

New Hampshire boasts a low unemployment rate and Manchester (the city where they will move) has many colleges. Trevor and Amanda are busy researching these, so that they can enroll soon after they move. Trevor and Amanda have spent the last two Christmases alone in their dark and small camper with virtually no money. Neither of them have seen their mothers for 5 years. Let’s bring them home for the holidays and take them into the next chapter of their precious lives.
