If you’ve spent time in or around Portland over the past 15 years you’ve almost certainly seen Roger Peet’s work. From enormous, brightly-colored murals featuring critical species and evoking ecological themes to exquisite hand-cut prints drawing attention to the often-overlooked variety of the natural world, his work shows attention to detail and a commitment to a better world for all. If you’ve attended marches or union picket lines fighting for rights and dignity for the working class you’ve probably seen his carefully hand-painted banners. If you’ve met him, you probably know him as a thoughtful, considerate, and sincere person.
Last week Roger’s car was stolen. It was recovered, but was essentially destroyed. It wasn’t insured for theft. He’s a resourceful guy, and gets around a lot by bike, but if we want him to be able to continue to move big pieces of art around, get banners where they need to go, etc. we will all benefit from getting him back into some wheels!
Roger has given a lot to the art community and to movements and orgs in Portland over the years. Funds will be used to help him replace his car. Let’s help him out!
