My husband, two children and I are desperately trying to return to Sydney from Guatemala, however we are caught in the middle of the COVID-19 travel restrictions and want to get home before the borders close.
We are volunteer teachers assisting at the local school in Xela. The country is currently in lockdown and we are receiving limited information on flights options for us to return to Australia. Every time we try to book a flight it either gets cancelled or the prices skyrocket. Every day it is looking more difficult to return.
We have contacted the Australian Embassy and they have advised us to come home or we may not be able to re-enter for some time.
We are urgently trying to find a flight to get us back to Australia and are asking for your help to cover the increasingly expensive flight costs.
