Get whole Pizza Sutra team to Filmapalooza!

Hi!

 

My name is Jennell and I'm part of Pizza Sutra, a rag-tag team of folks who like to make movies!

 

You may remember us best from our frozen pizza review show "Pizza Sutra" on Youtube.

 

 

 

But we are so much more than that...

 

The thing that unites us is a true love of creativity and expression. We get to make stuff that feels...genuinely "us". Our group of folks come from all different walks of life and each excel in different parts of the film making process, whether it's lighting, writing, acting, sound - we collectively work together to make something we're all proud of. Plus, it usually ends up being kind of weird, which we dig.

 

Specifically, our group likes to participate in the 48 Hour Film Project. The "48" (as we call it) is a GLOBAL filmmaking competition where each team gets only 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a complete short film. Its an absolutely dizzying and thrilling experience where everyone works their literal butt off, generally running on very little sleep. Its exhausting, but SO immensely rewarding.

 

 

Every participating city then hosts a screening of all the films made, and then chooses a winner to represent their city at Filmapalooza, which is the grand culmination of all the winners from all over the world. The event hosts independent filmmakers from all over the world for a weekend of celebration, networking, workshops and awards. The winners of Filmapalooza go on to have their short film screened at the Cannes Film Festival in FRANCE. It's a BIG DEAL!

 

Anyway, guess what!? We won for best film in Milwaukee this year!!

 

 

 

 

 

After years of participating, and winning many smaller awards, we finally took home the big prize! So that means our entire team has been invited to attend Filmapalooza 2022 in Washington D.C.!! That means our group of weirdos will be able to rub elbows with some of the most talented independent film makers in the world!

 

Since we won as a team, we want to go to D.C. AS A TEAM.

 

Now, here's where things get...a little tricky.

 

Taking a team of 10 people to Washington D.C. is going to be...a little expensive. There's tickets to Filmapalooza, transportation, lodging among other things. Our goal is for every member of our team to be able to go without worrying if it will break the bank.

 

Now, that doesn't mean we're not going to all work SUPER HARD saving money ourselves, (we're doing video work on the side, selling merch, Ebay, whatever we can!) but as we all know- times are kind of tough, and quickly finding funds to facilitate an out of state trip and festival isn't always realistic for everyone.

 

SO- we are trying to raise money to help collectively soften the financial burden for everyone!

 

Where the funds will be spent:

1. Tickets to Filmapalooza D.C. - these are nearly $300 each and we only get ONE free one per team

2. Transportation to D.C- our goal is to rent a passenger van to drive together!

3. Lodging- either at the official event hotel or renting a big Air B&B so we can all stay together

 

This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime and we are so honored to be able to represent Milwaukee on the global stage.
