Get The Testosterone Survey Zine Printed!

My name is Rena Yehuda Newman, a transgender Jewish zinemaker. From December 2021 til January 2022, I ran an informal, 73-question survey for transmasculine people to document their experiences transitioning on testosterone. To my absolute shock and delight, 389 amazing individuals submitted responses to this massive questionnaire. After six months of work, I've compiled and illustrated the results of this survey into a 60-page zine, filled with data and anecdotes from respondents about their experiences taking testosterone.

 

This zine is a public health art project designed to empower people transitioning on testosterone with knowledge, help us ask vital questions about our bodies and needs, and hopefully, make us all feel a little less alone. This zine was also designed for doctors, educators, therapists, and all those who care for transgender people to learn more about our experiences, struggles, and needs as they relate to medical transition using testosterone.

 

Never before has an illustrated trans health dataset like this been released. The digital version of this zine will always be free for download online at my gumroad store (available soon) - but I want to get at least 300 saddle-stitch and 200 perfect-bound versions of this zine available in hard copy, which will then be distributed at the launch party in NYC as well as at various bookstore distros globally. Physical books and zines have longevity and the ability to travel and hopefully, end up in the hands of trans people and those who care for us.

 

While I have the ability to cover some of the printing costs, community support would be greatly appreciated to ensure that enough copies are available for everyone who wants one.

The initial $500 goal was reached! I couldn't be more grateful to everyone who's donated. I've extended the goal to $1,200, as a new quote has come in including the perfect-bound books. In the year 2022, there is still too little research about the impacts of HRT on transgender bodies. We all deserve accurate, up-to-date information about the medicines that shape our lives.
