Hello I’m Carina, the proud mum of these two amazing girls, Sienna and Millie. They love bubbles, playing outside, and “row row row your boat.”
When Sienna & Millie were just 6 months they were diagnosed with life long heart conditions. Sienna had open heart surgery in April this year, This will be something that will always need to be monitored for them both, and sometimes further surgeries are needed as children grow. However with the right care and intervention the future can be bright.
Unfortunately, due to their condition they do have an increased risk of going into sudden cardiac arrest.
If this were to happen then using a defibrillator quickly is their best chance at survival, but this chance drops with every passing minute. Within 1 minute they would have a 90% chance, at 5 minutes 50% and at 10 minutes zero chance. Waiting for an ambulance could cost us everything.
Sienna and Millie are such happy, determined, little characters. Their future can be bright. The risk of sudden cardiac arrest weighs heavily on our family but having a defibrillator can make all the difference knowing that if the worst were to happen we will have the best chance of helping them.
Lee, Sienna and Millie’s Daddy and his friends will be running the yorkshire 10 mile on the 15th October. Please sponsor us. If we are lucky enough to receive enough to buy the defibrillator then all remaining money will be donated to the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in Leeds. We are so grateful to them and the incredible team at Leeds General Infirmary for all they have done for us and children across Yorkshire.
Thank you
