Al and Carolyn did their routine maintenance on their van preparing to head to Gainesville. The mechanic let them know their van required an expensive repair; he did the $750 repair. Then the mechanic found more issues. Despite regular maintenance and love, their van can't do it anymore. You gotta give it credit, they loved it so much, they tended it so well- it had over a million miles on it. It had become part of the family. It worked as hard as the Gardners, doing it's best to get them to faires throughout the country.
Al and Carolyn are dealing with the loss of their beloved van. They're trying to figure out how to get to the shows they need to get to; if you don't make it to shows then you don't make sales and you can't afford bills.
I want to share with you the kind hearts Al and Carolyn have. Every morning at Faire, as they set up, Al greets everyone who goes by. He's always got a sweet story, something to brighten the day. Carolyn always has a smile and a hug ready. They've got a family of furbabies, and I'm sure I'm not alone in being able to recount stories of their beloved pets. On a hectic day, one of the most uplifting sights you can find is Al demonstrating glassblowing in front of a crowd of people. Smile on his face, lovely story, perfect detail in glass.
They need a new van. They need a reliable vehicle to get them to faires.
It would be fantastic if we can get them on the road so they don't miss too much of their spring. Can we get them to Norman in April? The van is necessary. They need it for their livelihood. We can help. We can get them on the road. The many magical moments they've made for people across the country for years- it's their turn, it's our turn. We can turn this around, we can make the start of 2018 magical for them.
We have set a goal of 10,000 to replace the van, if we raise more than the van costs the excess will be put toward replacing the roof of their workshop at home which has been needing replacement for ten years (because getting Al and Carolyn to ask for help isn't easy but this is OUR chance to help them!)
