TLDR - We are being evicted so family can move into the unit we live in, so we need to move. We have until the end of June, but sooner would be nicer. Ideally, we want to move back to Ontario, so this is to help with all that, cause moving provinces is both difficult and expensive.

Why We Need To Move;

In Quebec, most housing is privately owned, and you need to resign a lease every year. Our landlord has sent us an eviction so that his son can move into our unit. This is completely legal, and in a perfect world we wanted to move for June anyways. Unfortunately this isn't a perfect world, but now we have no choice.

Why We Need Help Financially

As some of you know (but most of you probably don't), Ray has been off work since July of 2023. This was originally because his work place was laying people off due to lack of work, and coincidentally at a good time, since Ray went to a doctor for back problems (3 herniated disks) and would have needed time off anyways. We were told early September he would likely be called back. He wasn't. We waited, collecting EI and barely scraping by, before finally asking about it in November. Ray was then told that they didn't want him to come back, because he wasn't guaranteed to stay forever since we wanted to move back to Ontario. So he officially quit. He tried to get government funded to go to school and was rejected because there were too many applicants. As some people know, I own a small business. This has been nice, and I love doing it, but it's been almost impossible to fund with Ray being off work. Since I can't afford to do sales, I can't afford new materials and I don't have much left to work with, it has made me contributing very difficult. Unfortunately, I have learning disabilities and one of those is with languages. It's made it extremely difficult to learn French, and I can't work in this province without it (and part of that is actually Quebec law. So. Yay me.) So we are very hurting for money (like, every credit card company is calling us cause we can't afford to pay them and to eat).

Where We Want To Go

Ideally, Ontario. We are hoping to end up around either Kitchener or Barrie, but anywhere that one or both of us can work works for us. The difficult part is finding somewhere, because obviously we can't just drive down and look at units, which is part of why this is going to be super difficult. So if anyone wanted to help with scouting places and/or keeping an eye out for jobs, please message one of us, we would be eternally grateful.

What The Money Is For

This money is for moving expenses primarily. Unfortunately in Quebec, you don't pay first and last, so we have to save up double the price of whatever we want to rent (ideally $1500 (so $3000 for first and last) but what two bedroom is available for that in this economy so who knows ). Additionally, it would be to pay for moving vehicles, possibly to hire someone to help us at least move OUT of our unit, since we have very few people here to help, and for things like hydro start up costs, possibly get some credit cards under control, gas, etc. I hope $6000 is high balling it, but honestly, as someone who has moved from Quebec and to Quebec before, it's ridiculously expensive and I'm not 100% sure that it'll cover it all, but I am hopefully. Either way, it is all money exclusively to get us there and get us somewhere to live.
