Get Sweet Becky Johnson Home!

Our dear friends, John and Becky Johnson are going through a very difficult time. As many of you know they took a break from their “bucket list” dream of completing the American Great Loop Cruise to have a low-risk ablation procedure to treat Becky’s recurrent Atrial Fibrillation. Becky was born with Congenital Heart Disease and has had 5 open heart surgeries throughout her life. Her primary heart facility is the Cleveland Clinic Heart Institute in Cleveland. In July Becky had internal bleeding following the Ablation procedure. She bled into her lungs and abdomen, suffered a stroke and cardiac arrest. The ICU staff was able to bring her back and start on a long process of recovery. For the last 5 months, July through December, she has been moved through multiple Cleveland Clinic hospitals, ERs, Progressive and rehab facilities. She has Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy, which will be ongoing for a long time. Her swallowing issues have become so problematic that even with therapy the speech/language pathologists are doubtful that Becky will ever be able to eat normally again. John has taken a short term apartment in the area following six weeks in a hotel.

We all share the desire of seeing Becky come home. The immediate goal is to get medical transportation to fly her home. The Current plan is for a medical escort service on commercial air. Insurance does not cover this transport. Through this long process, a number of Dr’s, and procedures were considered out-of-network, greatly increasing their cost. Much of this cost is still yet to be discovered as the bills roll in. Many people have asked how they can help and one way is to defray the financial impact of this event. We’ve had to twist John’s arm hard to get him to agree to a Go Fund Me campaign. He has prayed on this and feels giving people the opportunity to help in this way is appropriate.

Please consider donating to help Becky come home and support John through her long term recovery process. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards covering expenses to bring Becky home, and continue her medical treatments not covered fully by insurance.
