Get "Shutter Speed" Up Onto The Stage

Hello, my name is April Noel

I am an actress, I am an improv artist and I am a writer. Earlier this year I finished my second full-length script; an original drama titled Shutter Speed. This script was written to be performed on a stage in front of a live audience and my dream is to see it done so. The issue, as it always is, is money.

To put a show up on a stage for a run can cost anywhere from $3,000 - $6,000 on the low end with a minimal set, costumes, props and of course pay for all that is involved. I am looking to all of you theatregoers, story lovers, and artist supporters, to help me make this dream come true.

Update: Shutter Speed was read in front of a live audience on September 17th 2023 for the first time and received raving, positive reviews. It has also been entered into a few script festivals. But the work is not done.

I would like to have it read at least two more times before being put up on stage. Help bring awareness and excitement to the play. I would also like to enter the script into more festivals.

So again I come to you folks for financial assistance to help me bring my play to the audiences, to the stage, to the world.

What is Shutter Speed about? It's about love, it's about family, it's about friendship, it's about passions, it's about...well here is a synopsis:

Raina, having found a true love for the craft in her late youth, wants to be a professional photographer like her Uncle David. Richard, Raina’s father, disapproves; believing Raina would not be able to take proper care of her health in that type of career; Raina having a bicuspid aortic valve and ascending aortic dilation. Instead, Richard encourages Raina to become an architect like himself. Despite Richard’s disapproval, Raina goes out on photography adventures with her two best friends; Nadia and Bram. Going as far as planning a summer photography road trip across the country together behind her father’s back.

Tragedy strikes the family when Raina dies of a thoracic aortic aneurysm; only three years after Raina’s mother, Naomi, dies of the same thing. Richard spirals into depression and drink; as he struggles to hold on to the life he had so carefully built around his family. With the help of Richard’s brother David as well as Raina’s two closest friends, Nadia and Bram, can Richard find it in his heart to unbox his grief and see his daughter through a new lens.

Any amount you give gets this original drama closer to its chance in the limelight that I truly believe it deserves.
