Hi, my name is Savior.
After graduating from university in New York, I had to move out of the city due to my expenses. I have been moving around since, living with family in Texas and Florida trying to find work. But as a Transman, the South has been a hostile place for me to be in.
I have experience in education, but with the transphobic and homophobic legislation in Florida, I have not been able to obtain work in this field. The town I am now living in has very few LGBTQ-friendly spaces and opportunities, and the only work I have found is part-time and pays $13/hr. Recently, I have been rationing my testosterone because I have yet to find a doctor who will properly advocate for me to my insurance.
Consequently, surviving in this state has become increasingly unsafe and difficult. In New York, I would be surrounded by my community, which would provide safety and resources, free healthcare, and job opportunities that would help me grow in my field.
Anything you can give me would be extremely helpful to me and I would be immensely grateful. Thank you.
