Closing the Gap Conference
I am seeking your financial help to attend the Closing The Gap Conference in Minnesota. This is an Assistive Technology (AT) conference that embraced the role technology plays in my life and allows me to network and learn from others like myself. AT has changed my life allowing me the freedom to communicate, and take control of my life. Many years ago my speech pathologist Mira Shah introduced me to a communication device, and showed me the power I have to speak. Physical therapists also worked with me finding chairs and devices to position my body so I could access my device comfortably. My parents found ways for me to participate in all the things they loved using assistive technologies. I have had your support in many ways over the years, and I thank you. The Closing the Gap Conference is a place where I can continue to network, encourage and educate teachers and professionals to better serve AT users. I hope you can help me on this continuing life journey.

I am the current president of BCTAC, Bridging Communities Through Augmentative Communication and an advisor at Portland State University to the AAC, Augmentative Alliance Community. I have been offered an opportunity to attend this conference as an ambassador for ASL (Adaptive Switch Laboratories/Invacare) so that educators and professionals may better understand how my seating system and my communication devices interact with me as an AT user. ASL has graciously sponsored my entry fees to the conference. But I will need your help with travel and expenses to get to Minnesota. I'm really excited about this opportunity to learn more about the devices that allow me to communicate and continue to live as independently as possible.

Would you consider sponsoring my trip? I welcome any amount that you could donate.
My costs for the trip include airfare, food and lodging for me and two assistants who I need to travel with me.
I will host a party to share what I have learned when I return.
