Get Ruthie To Seminary

Hi!! I'm Ruthie Travis. Growing up in a single parent household wasn't the easiest to deal with.  My mom has always been my biggest supporter and she's the hardest working person I know. Between raising four girls all on her own and working up to three jobs full time with no financial support from my father, hasn't always been easy.  I live in Baltimore and I'm so grateful for the community I am a part of.  For the past two summers, I had the incredible opportunity to go on NCSY Give and NCSY Jolt.     With the incredible help of Rabbi Hauer of our synagogue, Shaarei Zion and a lot of others in the community I was able to take part in both programs.  Going to Israel made me realize what a big part of Judasim I am a part of.  I was able to connect with Judaism, and with Israel in a very deep way, to a place in my soul that I didn't even know was there.  I have had so many religious struggles and after spending time in Israel on both GIVE and JOLT, I realize that I really need to be in Israel, in a supportive and nurturing seminary to continue my journey of growth.  After a lot of researching, I found out about Baer Miriam.  Baer Miriam is a program that I feel will help me further my growth, development, love and understanding for which religious path I am to take in my life.   It is a very homey accepting place where I feel like I will truly find myself. They have teachers who are hired not just for their wisdom, but for their kindness and their desire to help each girl fully develop themselves. This is the kind of high school that i have been at for the past two years, Yeshiva of Greater Washington.    I have applied and and been accepted now It’s always been my dream to study in israel for a year. Please make my dream a reality!
