Like most dogs, Rogue has a habit of chasing the squirrels in the backyard. Unfortunately, she chased the last one a little too hard and ruptured her CCL, which is the dog equivalent of tearing your ACL. Rogue has been living with me at college and was just getting used to having a yard again since we moved back in with her grandparents. Seeing as we just got home, I'm still looking for employment and I have two other siblings in college that my parents are supporting right now. They were kind enough to supply us with a leg brace that is helping Rogue from hurting herself further, but the rupture isn't going to heal on its own.
I'm sure everyone says this about their dogs, but Rogue is the best dog on the planet. She is silly and vocal, predictably since she's a Border Collie-lab mix, and the first dog I've ever had. She got me (and a number of roommates) through college and I can't imagine life without her. This injury is hard on my sweet baby, who has so much energy she puts the neighborhood kids to shame.
Her vet, whose sister practice we adopted her from, has put the estimate for the surgery at $1,500, and a little over $2,000 including X-Rays and bloodwork. For now, she's on medication to help ease her pain and keep her less active. Any help is greatly appreciated; I just want to get my heart dog back on her feet and running laps around the yard again.
