Get Rebekah Home

£25,175 of £25,000 goal

Raised by 808 people in 4 months
Rebekah is in hospital in Phuket with a serious infection and is very ill. I am her father James and the profile is her dog Alfie as I don’t have a Facebook page. I am trying to raise enough funds to get her home as soon as possible as she is way too poorly to fly.
I am in Phuket with her and I understand that she is well known all over the world through her travels throughout Asia and I am respectfully appealing to everyone to give a little to bring my girl home.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped Rebekah so far and sincerely thank everyone in advance for their support.
Any surplus funds will be donated to a charity of Rebekah’s choice.

Just a quick update as most people I meet think that Rebekah is recovering well at home. This unfortunately is not the case as she is currently in hospital detained under the Mental Health Act due to her condition.

Just let everyone know that we got Rebekah home this morning. She was taken straight to the RAH in Paisley who checked her over and carried out some blood tests. She still has an elevated cell count however the hospital do not consider this too much of a problem as they are confident that she has beaten the infection. The A+E Consultant went through Rebekah’s medical report from Thailand and was generally happy with her treatment, however it turns out that it was a serious bacterial infection all along. The viral brain infection turned out to be a precautionary diagnoses although the RAH said that they would’ve treated it the same way with antivirals whilst awaiting results. It was also advised that Rebekah continue her recovery at home with follow up GP contact and as such she is now home.
Again I would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support, and to the medical company AALS Medical Services, for their help in Rebekah’s repatriation.
Rebekah is still unaware of this page however she will know in the coming days and I’m sure that she will be overwhelmed with the level of support given to her.
James.

I thought I’d let everyone know that the medical team have taken over Rebekah’s care and her fitness to fly certificate was signed off by the doctor in Phuket yesterday afternoon.
All being well today, we are looking at a flight later tonight or early tomorrow with Rebekah being transferred by ambulance to hospital on our return.
Once again I’d like to thank everyone for their support throughout this very difficult time for Rebekah and I will provide further updates when I can.
James.

I have to say to my very heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated to get Rebekah home. I can confirm that we have now reached the target and will be able to get Rebekah home about one week earlier than anticipated.
I have a medical team arriving from the UK tomorrow and Saturday to assess Rebekah’s condition with a view to arranging her flight as soon as possible.
Again, I am forever indebted to everyone for their donations to this appeal and words could never fully express my gratitude.
James.
