My name is Rachel, I am 17. Growing up I wasn’t your typical child; I struggled educationally and didn’t fit in socially like the other girls in my class. Additionally my family struggled and continues to struggle financially. All these factors combined affected my relationship with my peers and parents. After struggling for a while, I became more cut off from my family and friends and I began to develop an addiction to drugs. I struggled with addiction for a couple years now and I finally reached a place where I was ready to get the help that I desired and needed. I have been working on myself with getting proper therapy and I am ready now to explore what Judaism means to me. It has been a dream of mine to spend my seminary year in the program Jewessence. My overall goal is to become the healthiest version of myself and learn to develop healthy relationships and self esteem. Jewessence is a program that I feel will help me further my growth, development, love and understanding for which healthy path I am to take in my life. For the past year I’ve been working and applying for scholarships to get to the program. I have raised $10,000 between my own money and scholarships, however I still need $23,000 for the rest of the tuition. This is why I am reaching out to YOU, to get whatever financial help possible to help me achieve my dream. I feel very uncomfortable asking for help but I know this is one of my last chances to attend. Any help would be very appreciated.
