“Eggs Aren’t That Easy To Make” is an exciting play from queer, new writing company Big Sofa Theatre. Written by Maria Telnikoff and directed by Lauren Tranter, it is heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe this year and we need YOUR help to make sure we get there!

What is “Eggs Aren’t That Easy To Make” about?

“Eggs Aren’t That Easy To Make” is a queer rom-com about starting a family in the modern-world.

'If I'm in a lesbian relationship when I'm older, I want you to be the sperm donor' Claire says to her best friend Dan, while drunk at a birthday party in uni. 'Okay, it's a deal', he says. Flash forward ten years and the two friends are making good on their promise. She is in said relationship, and he's just got a girlfriend. Having your best friend be your sperm donor – what could go wrong?

Why does this play matter now?

At a time when queer joy is being stamped out, this is a hopeful look into a future world. A lighthearted, tender, optimistic play where we see imperfect people doing their best and, slowly yet surely, trying to make their dreams a reality.

Why we need your help!

The Fringe is extremely expensive and we have been generous recipients of the Keep It Fringe Fund, allowing us to begin our Fringe journey. However, to cross the finish line, we need some extra help.
