Hi. My name is Jazmin Salcedo and I’m the owner and teacher of Pulse Dance Studio.
Dance has been a passion of mine since I was 3 years old, thanks to some very dedicated, kind and wonderful teachers. My goal as a teacher has always been and still is, to inspire the same love for this beautiful art form as my teachers instilled in me.
Pulse Dance Studio started as a small studio in Zachary, Louisiana in the summer of 2018. When the COVID pandemic started in 2020, I had 12 students and high hopes. After two months passed, the landlord informed me she could no longer afford the property and had to sell it. I paid my assistant teachers, thanked my dance parents and shut my doors. However, I refused for that to be the end of our story. With what little savings I had left, a tiny EIDL and a whole lot of love and support from my husband, I began building a studio in my garage.
When the mandates lifted last year, I began to offer lessons.
I got one student my first little heartbeat. Every bit of payment I received went towards the studio floors, heating and air, equipment, advertisement and competition registration fees. I haven’t paid myself since the closing of my first studio.
By mid-spring, I had no more savings. And competition was a whole other hurdle. But as any good dance teacher would, I pointed my toes and leaped. I paid my teacher fees, travel, lodging and food expenses out of pocket. By the end of summer, I was hoping I hadn’t abused my personal savings too much... I had.
This year, I’m beyond excited to be entering our second competition season since covid and we have high hopes for another national competition! However, I still cannot afford some of the teacher fees and travel expenses for my tiny team.
I’m asking for $5,000 to help pay our bills and get Pulse Dace Studio back on its toes.
Thank you for your kind consideration and no matter what life throws at you, keep dancing!
Update: Our tiny dancers qualified for Nationals! hep us get there! any amount helps!
