Get Pete on His Feet
Donation protected
Hello family, friends and all, my name is Yianni Ntokolas and I'm fundraising to help my father, Peter "Pep" Ntokolas, afford a prosthetic leg. You probably know my father from either being the loudest and funniest person in the room, or cooking a juicy roast lamb dinner for your whole family.
For a long time now, Pete has been living and working as hard as he can with his right foot protected by a not so fun, sticker-packed boot which has essentially become apart of him. After countless visits to doctor's offices and specialist in Vancouver, the pain became all too much. Last week, I drove Pete to Surrey Memorial hospital with expectations to pick him up later that night. I was called shortly after dropping him off to be told to go to the hospital and figure out what's going on because they weren't going to release him. There was found to be an infection in the bone of his foot which originally resulted in having to amputate his toe. As upsetting as it was it wasn't the end of the world. With more time being spent in the hospital, we found out the infection was spreading to a life threatening situation, resulting in a much more life changing amputation.
Pete was put into the ultimatum of keeping his leg and only being allowed to be on his foot 2 hours a day for the rest of his life (which definitely wasn't an option), or amputate and have another chance to live a healthy lifestyle and get back on his feet (or foot depends how you look at it). Pete will require a prosthetic leg from just under the knee down which is very expensive. Most prosthetic legs can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000 that even top of the line will only last 3 to 5 years because of wear and tear.
Any donation is heavily appreciated from the entire family and if you can't donate please feel free to spread the word. From the Ntokolas Boys, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! #GetPeteOnHisFeet
