Get Pat's Independence Back!

Hi, my name is Karen McDonagh and I'm fundraising for my uncle Patrick Walsh, here is his story:

Patrick Walsh, a fun-loving nature enthusiast and avid walker, sadly lost his independence just before Easter 2023 when he suffered a severe stroke which almost claimed his life and left him paralysed down the left-hand side of his body. He is now a resident of the Clonakilty Community Hospital as independent living just is not an option for him.

Those who know Patrick, will know that he is not a man to be knocked down easily. In recent years, he has beaten cancer, covid (twice), a fracture to his pelvis and buried his much-loved dog, all whilst grieving for his beloved late-wife, Mary Walsh. Patrick will not let his stroke stop him either.

Although confined to a push wheelchair, Patrick still has a positive outlook on life and is known to all the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Community Hospital for his wit and humour. He would love to regain some independence, stolen by his stroke, to travel into Clonakilty, visit the grave of his wife and potentially make it out for the occasional pint at his local pub The Mountain Escape.

Until now, this has been a something Patrick could only dream of as he has no close-by family, but with your help this dream can now become a reality. For this to happen, Patrick will need the assistance of an electric wheelchair and various aids. Therefore, we are asking for your help to raise some much-needed funds.

Can you spare any money, however big or small, would be greatly appreciated and used towards the cost of an electric wheelchair and assistance aids to help Patrick reclaim some of his independence?
