Help me win gold in the 2026 Winter Paralympics!
Hello, I am Patrick Halgren from Tolland, CT, USA.
First an important update: all the years of training and competition that this community has helped fund has officially paid off! I'm overjoyed to share with you all that I will be representing Team USA at the Beijing Paralympics games this March!! I can't thank you all enough for helping me get to this point.
Your support has been so critical in this journey and I want to highlight a few of the milestones your generosity has helped me reach over the past couple of years.
2021/2022 best results:
- 1st Park City, Utah / North American championship (This won me the title of best in North America!!!)
- 17th Slalom Lillehammer, Norway
- 2nd Slalom / Winter Park, CO
- 18th World Cup Super G / ARE, Sweden

Here's my backstory:
8 years ago I lost the majority of my left leg in a motorcycle accident. I was late for work and speeding. I came around a corner I knew well but carried too much speed through the turn and veered off the road into a farm field where I hoped to make a soft landing. But just as I entered the field with hay kicking up around me and the bike beginning to slow as hoped, a boulder appeared directly ahead that would change the course of my life.
Striking the boulder launched me into the air and into a phone pole. When the bike caught up to me, it pinned me there until rescue workers saved my life. When I woke up a month later in the hospital, my left leg was gone.
After recovery, I set my sights on representing the US Paralympics Ski Team, and it's what I've dedicated my life toward ever since.
However for me to continue to do this, I need your help!
There are three developmental teams in the U.S. Two are in Colorado and the other in Utah. I have been invited to train with these teams and have completed six seasons as a standing one-legged skier. with these teams costs come only training, basically, you pay to get good coaches who specialize in racers with disabilities. It is full-on training 5 days a week we run gates in the morning have a lunch break watch and get feedback on our video of training that morning, and then back to training and running gates in the afternoon. after i go to the gym to work out the kinks I go to work to support myself and "pay the bills".
This and lots of gate time will be vital in turning me into the fastest man with one leg!
I will still remain self-supported and will rely on my own funds for all travel, race costs, and all FIS-certified equipment. skiing is a very expensive hobby for most, and while I've been chasing the snow working at resorts for a staff pass I am fighting an uphill battle with little training and coaching myself. I will be using the funds I raise directly to compete at the top international level and earn my spot on the U.S. Paralympic ski team.
If you want any more information, or to get in touch for any reason feel free to contact me [email redacted]
