Get Pat Riding Again

A prominent member of our horse community here in Silver City is in need of help. This past week, Pat Buls slipped on the ice and broke her ankle. It was a serious break, requiring surgery and she will have a long recovery ahead of her. She is currently home and has friends helping her with the farm chores. However, Pat will be unable to teach or to ride for about 3 months, and these activities are her sole source of income and her only means of providing for her and her horses.
Pat is as devoted to the horse community as she is to her horses. Many of you know her as a trail riding companion or from her volunteer work with the Gila Backcountry Horsemen. Her knowledge of the back country is invaluable and she has introduced many Silver City Community members to the trails. At her farm in Pinos Altos, she trains young horses and reschools others. Many of us have purchased sound, talented horses from Pat. Over the years, she has built up a string of reliable and safe “school horses”. These are mounts for adults and children alike who take riding lessons from Pat and are future members of our horse community; a community that is growing because of the expertise of horse people like Pat.
All horse owners know that neither illness nor accident stops the responsibility of caring for horses, not even for a moment! Unfortunately, Pat’s accident put the brakes on her income activities but the horses still need to eat. In addition, she will have sizeable medical bills from the surgery and for rehab. We have started this go fund me account to help Pat with these expenses so that she can keep her farm going until she recovers.
We are grateful for any support we can get and respectfully ask you to share this information with family, friends or other horse people
